Style Profile - Sid Mashburn
Sid Mashburn - Designer - Atlanta, GA
Sid Mashburn is the owner and designer of a Southern haberdashery in Atlanta, GA. His Men's store sells Mashburn's own creations as well as other top designers. Mashburn is more of style editor for his patrons than a sole designer. While he makes some of the clothes sold at "Sid Mashburn" a lot of the clothes are pieces choosen from his favorite stylists. Sid Mashburn is also getting recognition for his modern southern preppy style he was selected as one of GQ magazine's "Ten Most Stylish Men in America" and was celebrated in a recent edition of The New York Times Style Magazine for his impeccable taste.
Mashburn is a hoge poge of classic style elements to create his overall milue. Sid Mashburn utilizes elements of sprezzatura, ivy league prep, southern gentlemen and modern tailoring to create his overall look. Mashburn wears and recommends a slimmer, modern fit to clothing without it being tight. He encourages the use of a deconstructed shirt jacket, emphasizing natural shoulders and the elimination or minimalization of shoulder pads. Mashburn thinks clothes should never look too perfect or planned, hence a shorter hemmed pant with no break, shirts with splash dash ironing and twisted ties. As with most style icons, the key is about fit, confidence and owning the style. Mashburn found a style that fits him and wears it as his own.
The Sid Mashburn double buckle monk shoe, that is featured on the website might be my favorite Sid Mashburn piece. What a simple and elegant design.
Thanks Sid for now adding a reason for me to go to Atlanta, Georgia.
Sprezzatura Italian for "Artful Dishevelment". How to look good without looking like you try too hard. Looking good gracefully is not easy, but we at MD feel we must progress toward the unattainable perfection of Artful Dishevelment. http://moderndignified.blogspot.com/2009/08/sprezzatura.html
